Undergraduate Program

 

BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN PUBLIC HEALTH

This is a four-year course, the first two years of which are given in the College of Arts and Sciences and the last two years in the College of Public Health.

The course (formerly known as Bachelor of Science in Hygiene) is designed to provide students academic and practical training in the basic sciences and in the fields of science relevant to public health work such as microbiology, parasitology, environmental health, nutrition, public health administration, health promotion and education, biostatistics and epidemiology.

 

Admission Requirements

 

  1. Freshman students - Freshman applicants must be graduates of recognized secondary schools and are required to pass the U.P. College Admission Test (UPCAT).

  2. Transfer students from within the University of the Philippines System (UPS) or from other universities are allowed only during the first three years of the program. The processing of applica­tions is done only for the first semester of each school year.

2.1   From within the UPS

a)     Applicant must have a general weighted average (GWA) of 2.5 or better in all courses taken.

b)     Must submit a true copy of grades and a permit to transfer from unit and completed application form.

2.2   From outside the UPS

a)    If entry is for the first and second year levels, the student shall be allowed to validate a maximum of 18 units per semester in courses acceptable to the unit.

b)    If entry is for the third year level, an applicant may qualify for admission if his GWA is "2.0" or "85%" or "B" or higher from the 66 or more units and that he has completed the required units in Algebra,Trigonometry,Physics, Zoology, Chemistry or their equivalents.

c)    An applicant is also required to submit an honorable dismissal form a transcript of records and a completed application form.

      3.   Deadline for application of transferees and shifties is April 30 of

                      each year.

 

Graduation Requirements

 

To be eligible for graduation the student must have completed all academic and other requirements, e.g. for physical education and citizen's military training.
