OBJECTIVES:

The DHPA aims to:

(1) Strengthen the curriculum for more effective undergraduate and postgraduate programs.

(2) Assume a lead role in health policy and health systems management studies and development.

(3) Engage in technical collaboration with practitioners, managers and organizations of health systems seeking change and innovation.

(4) Promote and undertake health policy and health systems research.

(5) Facilitate development and support of faculty and staff towards productivity enhancement.

(6) Expand the reach of Department programs and services in the country locally and internationally.

PHILOSOPHY

The department believes in the capacity of individuals, groups, organizations and communities to assume responsibility for self-assessment and self-learning thru analytical and creative thinking for effective management and leadership in health and health development. To actualize its philosophy, it shall provide the conditions and experiences to infuse consciousness and commitment to the following values:

The Department of Health Policy and Administration is inspired by our five-pronged vision:

  1. to be the management school of choice for the health sector,

  2. to be the center for health policy studies and development,

  3. to be the center for health systems research,

  4. to be the source of a pool of experts  in health policy and management

  5. to be at the hub of inter-organizational linkages for health policy and management development

 

MISSION AND GOALS:

The Department of Health Policy and Administration (DHPA) seeks to renew its mission by being the premier resource for education, research, leadership and expertise in health systems management and policy studies. It shall provide the highest standard of advanced instruction, applied, participatory and action research; training, consulting and networking in health systems management, policy development and studies.
