OBJECTIVES OF THE DEPARTMENT The Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics (DEBs) develops human resource in Epidemiology and Biostatistics through undergraduate, graduate and post-graduate education and specialty training programs; enhances capabilities of policymakers, program managers and other health professionals from government, non-government and private institutions, both local and international, through teaching, research and technical services. Specifically, DEBs develops students/trainees competence to investigate, analyze and interpret biomedical and public health problems and to apply modern techniques in evaluating various forms of public health intervention. The mission and objectives of the Department are realized through the various academic degree program offerings and continuing education courses. The Department offers courses in biostatistics and epidemiology to all students in the College as well as to participants in the continuing education courses. The Department offers one doctoral (DrPH Epidemiology) and two masters [MS Epidemiology(Public Health) and MSPH(Biostatistics)] degree programs.
